The first I painted to enter into a contest held by Cipher Studios to find a painted piece for their Empire Agent. The second is a quick paint of a Reaper fig (Kale Nolan) I was working on in parallel. I finished him yesterday. The color palettes are similar though I'm sure you all can see differences.
In other news I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of some starship minis from Ravenstar studios. I can't wait to try my hand on those.

The facial expression on the second model is fantastic! Great work!
ReplyDeleteBah, I just noticed I forgot his eyebrows when I read your comment. Twice now I've done that.
ReplyDeleteHoly dooly! That first paint job is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteAnd my Empire Agent -won-! *falls over*
ReplyDeleteAnd from the looks of it, I squeaked out a win. http://cipher-studios.com/2010/04/empire-agent-contest-winner/#more-74
Wow! You deserved a win, man. That's a gorgeous mini.
ReplyDeleteQuick question, are those cipher minis the regular 28-32mm size? I'd love to get some of those if they're not too different than Reaper's in size.
They are.
ReplyDeleteWhat I've found, is that I think they sculpt truer to scale, so limbs and such are often "thinner" and so you'll have less pewter than you might expect. This has an effect on pinning/assembly that I'm not generally used to.
But they are gorgeous sculpts.
Thanks for the reply, Joe. Gonna have to break my bank and get some of those. I love that Empire agent.
ReplyDeleteBTW, nice job on Kale Nolan, as well. I recently painted up one of him... didn't turn out nearly as nice.
