The Huntsman!
The Huntsman started life as a Heroclix Hydra minion. But now he's a mini for my friend Walt in our Necessary Evil game. Anyway, a final mini for March.

Three Nasty Dudes
I've gone on a little bit of a painting binge with thug/bandit/assassin style minis. I'm trying to build up specific groups of minis to use in my D&D games, and I don't have many thug/bandit types. Here's my first efforts to fix that:
This is a Reaper mini, painted rather quickly. I went with a green cloak mainly so I can easily tell him apart from my other cloaked thug minis. Not the best paint job, but adequate for table top use.
This mini is from Paizo. It's a nice sculpt, easy to paint and in a good pose. I like quite a few of the figures they've produced. Once again, the photo looked fine in the camera's view finder but came out blurry when I imported it.
I painted this Reaper mini to represent Obmi, a recurring Greyhawk villain who has shown up in my Temple of Elemental Evil campaign. I really like how he came out, even if it only took me a couple hours to paint him. The figure was dead simple to paint, my favorite kind!

Harlequin MIniatures Gandalf Take
This is an old Harlequin miniature I finally got around to priming and painting. I've positioned him in front of some Fat Dragon Games Terrain that I've been creating prior to reviewing the material. This figure was done up with Andrea's White paint set. This is a five set of white paint variants. The base is done up in Andrea earth pigments. The pigments were very interesting to work with and I've got a lot to learn about using them. For example, after you've got them wet and they dry, you can get them wet again. Very interesting. The base is not part of the figure initially but from the Dark Ages miniatures game. For some reason, the War Store is blowing them out.

The Monster and A Goliath Barbarian
One of these is from Vampire Wars and is "the Monster". Gee, I wonder who that's based off of eh? Anyway, he's ancient, probably from '07 and was in a box waiting to be finished off. Only his skin had been started with a base coat and a wash. I've done the pants, boots, chains, neck bolts, etc...
The second is a Dreamblade Bone Hunter that I've modified to be a Goliath Barbarian. Painted with the old grey skin, shaved off the hair, touched up the fig, etc... Still didn't like the way he turned out though. Too many bones on him so he's off to e-bay.

Two Slithe Raiders
From Miniatures |
I finished these guys up last night. I've been plugging away at them for a while. I really like the sculpts and have two more to work on, plus I'd like to pick up the slithe chieftain that Reaper recently released.
Hobby Que Unicorn and Blue Dragon
After I saw the pic I went back in and fixed the eye on the baby blue dragon. There was even some green on the nose of the unicorn on the other side that I fixed up. But for the most part, they is done! Also from the Hobby pack that the dino, angel, and knight came from. Only one left, a baby red dragon coming out of the egg.

The Templar of Doooooom!
This is a mini I actually finished last week but haven't had time to photograph. It has been the ultimate pain in my a$$. It has been dropped several times, requiring re-pinning and a number of repairs and finally a repaint because the damn thing fell into some cleaning water when it was nearly done. Well, it is now done and I can move onto other things.

Two More Reaper
Squinting Won't Help
Sorry for the blurry photo. It looked good on the camera.
Weird thing about this fig: the primer dried to an almost hard, candy like shell on it that didn't take paint so well. The first coat was a real pain, but I think that the figure came out OK. He'll be a fighter/magic-user in a D&D game some day.

Three More Minis
I took today off as an R&R day after handing in the manuscript for Player's Handbook III. Fittingly enough, I finished off three minis.
This is a Reaper mini, a ghost I painted up for my Greyhawk campaign. This is a very simply paint job, but it looks good enough on the table. Base colors, wash, drybrush.
I put a little more work into this guy. He's a Reaper mini, also painted for my Greyhawk campaign.
This final mini is Ral Partha's envisioning of the jabberwock. A random fun fact about this miniature: it shows up in Warhammer Fantasy Battle third edition, with stats, art, and a guest appearance by the mini in one of the dioramas. I painted this guy up to use as a random demon. I'll probably give it a lightning bolt breath weapon, inspired by the jabberwock from The Bard's Tale.

The first one is for size comparison. The figure is big with a wide stance. Make a great Mind Flayer Thoon or whatever the big uglies are called. It's shinny because I gave it a wash of army painter which is an oil based gloss product. It's for a friend who isn't paying so it's done. The knight is still being worked on and is from the same set as the dino from earlier.

It looks like joegkushner is racing up the mountain to 52 ... but will he rest on his laurels or will he show us what a champion can really do? Stay tuned, sports fans, and never count out the peloton.
