The story on this one is that round about last spring, a friend of mine gave me a bunch of lead he wasn't going to paint. It was a grab bag of lots of stuff, and included in it was this figure.
Fast forward to this month. His wife invites us all to a birthday party for him. Well, I looked over at my painting shelf, saw Turanil sitting there primed and waiting for paint and put the thoughts "birthday" and "unpainted figure" together and got "birthday present".
A week long sprint of painting later and we have the above.
Great job. Is that NMM on the gold? Greens and reds are very smooth.

ReplyDeleteYeah that gold/yellow is NMM. The red is still darker than I wanted but it came out very smooth.
ReplyDeleteHey Joe (apologies, couldn't resist), what did you use for ground cover on the base? Looks like an dried herb mixture, but I can't tell and it looks rad.
ReplyDeleteIf you mean the green stuff, that's just static flock. If you mean the rest of the base, that's actually just pumice texture. I first used "Green Stuff (tm)" to adhere the fig to the base (it had a broccoli base that I molded the green stuff around), and then I put the pumice texture on over the green stuff. A little bit of brush on primer, some washes with brown, black and grey and then some dry brushing with grey and khaki ... viola.
